About the Founder
Granville Fields is a US-born legal language specialist with over 17 years of experience in bilingual French-English translating and interpreting in the legal field. Over the course of his career, Mr. Fields has worked as a language consultant for both the public and private sector organizations on interpreting and translating projects. Some of the organizations that have used his talents include the Paris-based UN agency UNESCO, the US Department of Justice, the US Embassy in Paris, the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, the French Justice Ministry, the AMF (France’s SEC), BNP Paribas, Sanofi-Aventis, Lexmark Europe, Club Med, law firms such as Gide Loyrette Nouel, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, Lovells, Winston & Strawn LLP, Herbert Smith and numerous other corporate giants and leading law firms in France.
Mr. Fields has solid knowledge of both the US and French legal systems and practical experience interacting with legal and business professionals from both countries as well as from the UK and Australia.
Mr. Fields has extensive US and French academic training. In the United States, Mr. Fields is an alumnus of the Georgetown University College of Arts and Science with a BA in Economics. He also earned an MS in Agricultural Economics from the University of Florida. In France, Mr. Fields obtained a Master's in International Economics from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), received a BA in French Literature from the Université de Paris VII – Denis Diderot and earned a Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting from the Institut supérieur d'interprétation et de traduction (ISIT).
In recognition of his excellence in legal translating and interpreting, Mr. Fields was admitted to the official list as a certified translator and interpreter by the Paris Court of Appeals in 2000. In that capacity, he is qualified to perform bilingual English-French translating and interpreting services in connection with any official legal proceedings throughout France, in any French-speaking country and in English language countries.
